What a great launch event of the new neckers. Thanks to Tullis for letting all the Explorer Sections and District Team gate crash your french themed evening!

We had French vocabulary lessons, built Eiffel Towers from lego, tasted French Cheeses and presented each other our new Neckers.

Is your birthday between 2nd August 1995 and 25th July 2002? If so then Roverway is for you!

Roverway is an event for young people aged between 16 and 22, jointly hosted by WOSM (World Organisation of the Scout Movement) and WAGGs (World Association of Girlguiding). The event will take place in the Netherlands during the summer of 2018.

Roverway aims to provide young people from across the World with an adventure that will inspire and prepare them for the future.

More information is available on the event website:

Up to 3,000 young people aged 16 – 22 will participate in the Roverway, coming from across Europe. The participants will be divided into international teams, called Tribes, with whom they will collectively take part in the Path of their choice. The Paths are located across the length and breadth of the Netherlands and will each have a different theme reflective of the area. The participants will spend several days on their Paths, taking part in community projects and learning more about the culture and history of the country. After completing their Path, the participants will travel to International Scout and Guide Centre Zeewolde for a jamboree style camp, the central camp will take place for the last part of Roverway. During the event, young people from all over Europe will come together to work on shared projects and learn more about themselves, the environment and others.

District Team Appointments

Posted on June 4th, 2017 by Grant Kerwin-Nye

I am very pleased to announce that Stewart Lomax is to take on the role of Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme Co-Ordinator for Ashdown. This is an important role to help support our Young people to achieve their DoE awards through Scouting. East Sussex CC have already tried once to remove the funding from Schools across the County but one thing for sure is that Scouting will always be here to support our Explorers and Network Scouts to achieve the best they can.

I also very excited to welcome Greg Richards from 4th Uckfield to the team in the roll of ADC Growth & Development. Greg will, of course, be continuing as CSL of Martletts Cub Pack at 4th Uckfield whilst assisting me with taking forward what will become our District Development Plan.

Megan Tullis, District Youth Commissioner, has moved to London where she will continue Scouting. I am pleased that her Deputy, Tom Dalton, has agreed to step up and become DYC. Tom will be assisting me in forming a whole team of Youth Commissioners to mirror the District Team.

Ash Jones District Commissioner.

I was completely and utterly inspired to be at Summit17 this weekend with nearly 600 other Scouters from across the UK and further afield. We have started the process of shaping the way Scouting will move forward over the next 5 years so watch this space. It was also great to get to know some of the rest of the County Team. Oh and one other bonus:
