Summit17

Posted on April 3rd, 2017 by Ashley Jones

I was completely and utterly inspired to be at Summit17 this weekend with nearly 600 other Scouters from across the UK and further afield. We have started the process of shaping the way Scouting will move forward over the next 5 years so watch this space. It was also great to get to know some of the rest of the County Team. Oh and one other bonus:

Training is not always a chore!

Posted on February 19th, 2017 by Ashley Jones

It was great to see leaders from across the District at Crowborough Scout HQ this morning taking part in their First Response Training. It was good to meet you all either again or for the first time. Thanks to Martyn for running it and all the helpers in the kitchen and the young actors on the practical incidents, so knowledgable as well!

District Commissioner

Posted on January 18th, 2017 by Ashley Jones

Well I have only been in post since 1st January following a good lead in with Brian Sadd and its already been full on. A massive thanks to Brian for everything he has done with Ashdown over the last 10 years as DC.

Before Christmas I attended a very successful event at Ticehurst HQ. Thanks to 1st Ticehurst and some of the Crowborough Leaders for running a District Air Rifle Shooting Competition for the Scouts. Well done to all the Scouts that participated.

I also popped along and helped with the parking and had a sing song and a hot dog at the Cub 100 Promise Party. Thanks to the Assistant District Commissioner for Cubs and her team for putting this on, I know the Cubs from Ashdown and Lewes Districts really enjoyed the Camp Fire Songs and the BBQ afterwards at Broadstone Warren. What a sight to see Newick cubs turn up in a vintage double decker bus!

Now I am really looking forward to seeing you all at many events this year.

Overland Training is well under way with the Scout and Explorer Sections and we look forward to the main event at the end of March. Good luck to all those participating.

Here is to a great Scouting 2017 in Ashdown District.

Our very own District Commissioner, Brian Sadd, is stepping down from his role after a whopping 10 years.

The search is now on for someone to take over from Brian and further the success of the district. The role can be one or many people so if you work better in a team, please include that in your email to Susan.

Role application forms can be found below, or contact Susan Cooke (ltm@ashdownscouts.org.uk) for more information.

Nomination deadline is 31st July.
